postvention is an intervention conducted after a suicide, largely taking form of support for the bereaved family & friends of the person who died by suicide. Those grieving may be at an increased risk of suicide themselves.

Walk-In Counselling program that leans in with a narrative therapy posture using an outside witness and it is offered face-to-face Monday – Friday.

Note: Currently offering it via OTN. To book appointment call the front desk at 905-641-5222 and book a counselling appointment. Same day counselling is provided.

Brock students have access to 24/7/365 days a year counselling by calling 1-833-BROCK-33

Students can also access the service via the My SSP app which offers 24/7 access to text & talk based counselling.

CMHA Walk-In Counselling
BU Students ONLY
Brock & CMHA Niagara have partnered to bring one-on-one, on campus, drop-in counselling to Brock students, to help reduce the time in which students wait to access counselling services and make it easier for students to access help during peak time of the academic year.

Services free to Brock students.

Niagara College Counselling
NC Students ONLY
Niagara College offers free, confidential, individual counselling available to all registered students. Students who have been impacted by death/suicide are prioritized for service whenever possible.

Students impacted by grief are able to meet with an Accessibility Consultant to determine the need for academic accommodations. Staff members are able to request a counsellor reach out to check on the wellness of a student they may be concerned about.

Note: Offices are currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are offering counselling services virtually. On campus meetings are available on a case-by-case basis.

FAITH BASED SUPPORT

Niagara Life Centre Counselling Services
Individual and Family Grief Counselling (Fee: $40.00/session)
Grief Share Group (Fee: $10/group or $60 for 6-week group)

To access these supports and services please contact the organization via phone (905) 934-0021. All services are currently being offered virtually due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Note: No one will be turned away because of the cost of the services and those impacted by suicide loss are considered high priority for counselling and griefshare.

LivingWorks Suicide to Hope

1-day in-person training

Facilitated training using audiovisuals, discussion and simulations to learn new counselling and support tools designed to help those with lingering thoughts of suicide.
